What Is The Best Luggage To Take For A 3-month Trip?
Some things to know: I’m female, but very strong. I will probably buy clothes. I will be in both Italian cities and the country-side like Cinque Terra.
So, should I go for the backpack, or a rolling suitcase. How big?
Have you gone on long trips like this? What worked, luggage-wise, what didn’t?
Thanks!

Okay-I have been to Cinque Terre and travelled through Italy and for starters, don’t even think about taking a rolling suitcase. Have you been to Italy???? You do not want to be dragging anything on wheels along the cobbled roads. I will tell you what I did-took a daypack-yup that was all I took and there wasn’t a day that I didn’t glow with gratitude that that is what I did. It was SO liberating! There is nothing worse then being encumbered by stuff when travelling, so the best thing to do is take the very minimal you can imagine and then cut that in half! This is especially true if you are planning on buying clothes there anyway. Have fun!
You need a camping/hiking type back pack. I traveled around 3 months in Europe and I took one, it worked great. Get something that fits well, as you’ll do a lot of walking. The streets in Europe can be bumpy and you don’t want luggage with wheels. (did this once and Lissabon and broke my wheel within the first hour trying to find my hotel). Look for a back pack at REI…or a similar camping/sports shop. Have fun!
p.s. Cinque Terra is really over-rated, and SO touristy. If you really want to experience Europe go for places were there isnt a “English menu” and look for locals.
