Learning About Off-season Vacation Deals

Tuesday, July 28th, 2009

Once you have decided that it’s time to book a vacation, you begin looking for vacation deals, but you are at a loss in trying to figure out how to find vacation deals that will actually work for your situation and that will be affordable for you and your family. If you want to take a vacation at a dream spot, or at a dream resort, it is a good idea to learn about off-season vacation deals. Off-season vacation deals can help you to save hundreds of dollars while allowing you to have the vacation of your dreams.

What Is Off-Season?

Almost every hotel has a few different seasons. The most popular season at the hotel is the on season. This is the time when the hotel can anticipate that they will have a great deal of tourists going through their hotel and when they know that they will have a number, if not all, of their rooms booked up. Take Vermont, for example. Vermont is known for being a very snowy and beautiful state.  Hotels in Vermont can rest well knowing that, as fall and winter come, they will be booked solid. This is not a good time to look for vacation deals, as the hotels have no reason to offer vacation deals when they are going to be booked solid. If you want to book a cheap vacation in Vermont, go during the off season.

The off season is the time when there will not be a great deal of tourism expected in the area. This is because the attractions are lesser, or the weather is not as favorable. For instance, visiting Florida in the winter would not be a good time to look for vacation deals, as many vacationers form the northern climates look to vacation in warm weather states during the winter, making it a definite that it will be hard to find vacation deals during that time. Instead, look to the off season, which, in Florida, would be the late spring and summer months. This is when you’ll find the best vacation deals, allowing you to save the most money.

Research

The easiest way to find off season vacation deals is to do a lot of research. If you have always wanted to visit a particular place, find out what the off season for that area is. Then you can begin looking for vacation deals that are offered during the off season. Often, many hotels have their vacation deals for the off season listed all year round, in an effort to drum up business. This means that you will not only be able to find vacation deals that work for you, but that you will also be able to book far ahead of time, allowing you to save even more money.

While there are vacation deals that you can find during the peak season in any one place, it is a better idea to look for vacation deals during the off season, when you’ll have a better chance of saving some real money.

A Vacation Package Really a Vacation Deal?

Monday, July 27th, 2009

You see them all over the place – vacation packages that are touted to be a great deal. “Pay for your hotel and your car and your plane trip all at the same time and save money with a vacation deal!” the vacation packages, and those that are selling them, swear that you’ll save tons of money when you are getting a package deal – more than you would with any other vacation deal. But will you really save money? Let’s examine how to get a true vacation deal, piece by piece.

The Hotel Cost

Hotels can be really expensive, especially if you’re looking to book a luxury hotel stay or a hotel stay during peak seasons. If you’re trying to get a good vacation deal on a hotel stay, you can save lots of money by using coupons, or by waiting around until the right time to book your stay. You can also save money by booking ahead early, and in many cases just booking six months ahead of time can save you over half of the price that you would have paid, meaning that you may get a better vacation deal if you book a hotel separately than you may if you book a package vacation deal.

The Car Cost

Cars can be horribly expensive to rent, which is why many people think that renting cars through a package deal is the best way to get a vacation deal. In some cases, it may be the truth, as there are many places that do charge quite a bit for a car. There are, however, other ways that you can rent a car cheaply. Instead of looking at the car rental place that’s in the airport, try renting a car through a local car dealership for your vacation deal. Many dealerships rent cars and can help you to make your vacation much cheaper than through renting it from the airport, giving you a true vacation deal. Also, instead of looking for a rental car and trying to get a vacation deal, see if you have friends who are willing to let you borrow one of theirs cars for your stay, or see if the city that you’re going to be staying in has a good city transportation system, allowing you to go car-less for your stay.

The Airplane Deal

Airplane costs are like a rainstorm – heavy one minute and light the next. In order to get a good airplane cost and a great vacation deal, you need to constantly check on the costs and be ready to pounce whenever you find a good price for you. Often buying a bundled deal means that you’re stuck with the price that you paid for your airplane fee, making it more expensive to pay for your airline ticket if you bundle your deal and not offering a good vacation deal.

A bundled deal may be a good vacation deal for some, but often you can save more money if you get individual prices, especially if you take the time to look and to search. If you’re in a hurry, however, a bundled package may be the best vacation deal for you.

How to Find Great Vacation Deals

Tuesday, July 21st, 2009

Deciding that you want to go on a vacation is all too easy. Actually booking the vacation and paying for it, however, is much more difficult. Vacation deals exist to help those who are looking for a cheap vacation to be able to afford to spend some time evading the real world. But how can you find vacation deals? Many people are not sure how they can find and use great vacation deals. Here are a few tips to help you to find vacation deals that will save you tons of money.

Tip #1: Book Sooner Rather Than Later

If you are going to go on vacation, you will get better vacation deals if you book sooner rather than later. By booking later, you are giving the hotel very little notice, which means that you will have to pay full price. Booking earlier lets them know that they will have your room booked, and they will know that they will have business. In order to thank you, they will often offer vacation deals that you may not have seen before. Whenever possible, book your vacation the soonest that you can.

Tip #2: Talk to a Travel Agent

In the day and age of electronics, many people are shying away from real travel agents to start booking their own vacations online using an online travel site. While these can sometimes get you great vacation deals, many people find that they have more trouble booking an online vacation than they would if they had gone to a travel agents.  Travel agents make it in the business because they have connections that the average person does not have. Travel agents can often get you vacation deals that the average person would not be able to find.

Tip #3: Nepotism is Good

Do you know someone in the state or country that you are planning on visiting? If you do, there is always a chance that the person you know may be able to help you to get a great vacation deal. People who live in the area know the best places to stay, and many have connections that can get you a good deal on a room or on a vehicle.

Tip #4: Be Flexible

You want to start your vacation on a Friday or Saturday and end it on a Saturday or Sunday. So does everyone else. These are the most popular times to start and end vacations, and booking a vacation during that time means that you likely won’t be able to find any vacation deals. Instead, try booking your vacation during the slower times, like on a Tuesday or a Thursday. Also, try booking your plane flight during the late night or the very early morning, as these will help you to save money as well. You can find vacation deals in a number of places, especially if you learn to look outside of the average, everyday vacation itinerary and learn to look to solutions that you may not have thought of before.

The Vacation Deals Emails – Should You Answer Them?

Monday, July 20th, 2009

If you’ve got an email address, chances are high that you’ve received emails that tell you that you can get a great vacation deal if you “just act now”! Often you’ll receive phone calls that are the same, asking if you want a vacation deal. Should you take the time to answer these emails and these phone calls about vacation deals, or should you avoid them entirely?

What the Emails Say

Some emails promise vacation deals that will astound and amaze you. One of the classic vacation deals is to book a vacation for you now and to get another vacation deal for a dollar or less. While this sounds great, you really need to check into the deal first. Often vacation deals like this charge you double or triple the price for the original deal making you pay more than you should, thereby saving you absolutely no money at all.

Other vacation deals that you receive by email say that you can save tons of money if you just book your deal early, and if you book your vacation deal through clicking on a link. While it is true that you can get a good vacation deal by booking early, it is also true that many of the links that you will click on bring you to an affiliate link, which actually charge you a percentage of whatever you’re booking, or a solid booking fee, before it allows you to book your vacation deal. This isn’t really a deal, as you’re getting charged to book the deal in the first place.

Other emails for vacation deals promise that you can go on a Caribbean cruise for nothing, and say that you’ve won a prize, giving you a great vacation deal. These emails can be one of two things – either they’re an affiliate link trying to trick you into going through their site, and making you pay outrageous fees in order to get your “prize”, thereby paying for the price of the ticket, or they’re a scam.

Scam Emails

There are tons of scam emails that come through your email any day of the week, and many of them trick you by promising you a vacation deal that looks too good to be true. If the vacation deal looks too good to be true, it probably is. These vacation deals that are promised aren’t real, and are merely a trick in order to get you to give out your credit card information to nefarious people. People have been scammed thousands of dollars through these types of email scams, never to see the money again.

It is a good idea to avoid any emails that come into your possession that promise a vacation deal that you can’t ignore. These vacation deals should be deleted quickly, as most of them are not honest vacation deals but are designed to scam you into spending money that you shouldn’t spend. The only vacation deals that you should act on are ones that you, yourself, have found through online deals or through travel agents.

Finding Vacation Deals

Sunday, July 12th, 2009

Who doesn’t want to find vacation deals? Everyone does , but the trick is to find the best vacation deals that you can. Then you can have the vacation you truly want at a fantastic price. There is a certain program to follow if you want to find good vacation deals, and completing the steps in order may actually end up giving you the best vacation deals possible.

Steps to the Best Vacation Deals

First, you will want to decide when you to take your vacation. That might sound odd – after all, shouldn’t where to go be first? The reason you want to decide on timing first is that most tourist areas offer great vacation deals in the off season. For example, there are so many less expensive packages and vacation deals to Florida and many other Southern states in the winter months. With Disney vacation deals, Orlando Beach vacation deals, and many other packages and vacation deals that can be bought for a fraction of the cost you might pay during the tourist season, choosing the off season is ideal for many different locations.

After you know when you want to go on vacation and what kind of vacation deals to be on the lookout for, do some research about what popular vacation spots offer deals during that time. You can usually find package vacation deals that are all inclusive, with your hotel, meal plans, and sometimes amusement parks or other attractions either included in the cost. If not, discounted tickets and coupons are often available just by booking an inclusive package. Going on vacation in the off season will offer you more than great vacation deals, though, it will also help you avoid the crowds. With good vacation deals you will save money on food and souvenirs, and have the time of your life without the time often spent waiting in line.

Next, decide how much you are willing to budget, realistically, for your vacation deals. After you have seen some of the vacation deals that are offered, you should have a good idea about how much you might need, at the minimum. Making monetary decisions may not be easy, but for the best vacation deals, it is necessary if you are actually going to stick to that budget, without spending more than you initially intended. However, budgeting for your vacation deals means more than having a certain amount to spend. It also means delegating a certain amount of money for vacation deals with regard to each expected expense, and then having a reserve for unexpected expenses. That way you won’t spend too much in one area and not have enough for another area.

The next step, of course, is to reserve your vacation deals. Once you find the one you want, acting quickly will insure that you do indeed get the deal. With many people looking for good vacation deals, reserving yours in advance will guarantee that you have the opportunity to save some cash. The money you can save when you take some good off season vacation deals can make the difference between being able to take a vacation and having to save that time off for a bit later.

When you have those things in order, it’s time to begin looking for the best vacation deals. Looking at resorts or all inclusive hotel packages for great vacation deals may be your best bet. There are also people who rent houses and condominiums out at less cost in the off season. With enough options to make your head spin, you can find some great vacation deals and have the best for less.

Where to Look for Vacation Deals

Sunday, July 12th, 2009

Finding vacation deals may take some digging, but it can be done. There are a number of ways to get some good vacation deals, and there are a number of places that you can look for the best vacation deals possible.

Tips to Find the Best Vacation Deals

If it doesn’t really matter where you go, you can look for vacation deals on websites such as Craigslist and Ebay. It happens quite often – a family reserves and pays for a vacation deal and then something happens to prevent them from being able to take the trip at that time. When that happens, there is usually a sizable fee if the reservations are canceled. Some people decide to try to sell the vacation deals at a smaller loss and are willing to offer a great price on their vacation deals. There are also auction websites where you can bid on packages and other listing websites where you can contact the people and buy the vacation deals outright. If you decide to look for good vacation deals in this way, you will want to make sure the website is reputable and that the person doing the selling has a good rating and good reviews from other people who have bought things from them. That way you are less likely to get ripped off.

Another way to find vacation deals is to call the places you are interested in and ask for a special rate, added incentives, coupons to use for local attractions, and even a discount for reserving ahead. Sometimes there are vacation deals available that aren’t advertised, so asking is one way to find out if they will give you some good vacation deals.

Taking your vacation during the off season will give you an even better chance of getting some good vacation deals. With less tourist traffic, less congestion in the hotels and resorts, and less money coming in from vacationers, many hotels and resorts offer vacation deals that will end up saving you a lot of money. The off season means when it isn’t as busy as the busiest time for tourists. With less business, offering vacation deals helps the tourist areas keep the money coming in, while at the same time, people who vacation during that time save money and avoid the crowds of the busy time.

Another way to find great vacation deals is to ask people you know about the vacations they have taken, and any special vacation deals they may know about. Word of mouth is one of the best ways to find the best vacation deals.

You can also look for coupons that offer some good vacation deals. Just load your internet browser, type in the destination you want, and the words ‘vacation deals’ or ‘vacation coupons’. You may be amazed at all the options for great vacation deals that appear for you to look at.

Finding the perfect vacation deals for you and your family will help you have the vacation of a lifetime.
